No Time

Because of the pressures on us each day. You can feel depleted. Where is the YOU of you? The American social commentator, Joseph Campbell, writing in the 1970s, had this to say about a personal, what he called sacred, space. He reflected on the pressures of modern life.
“This is an absolute necessity for anybody today. You must have a room, a certain hour of the day where you don’t know what’s in the news, who your friends are, what you owe anybody. This is a place where you can simply experience and bring forth what you are and what you might be. A place of creative incubation. At first you might find that nothing happens. But if you have your sacred space and use it, something will eventually happen. You have to try it to find out.
In your sacred space you get to know the “thou” feeling.”

  1. “The Stressed–>Desserts” WordToon flows right into the theme you are developing with “Find a Place to be Yourself” and “No Time.” I can’t wait to see if there is more on this invaluable theme. Will you be connecting it to the “Follow your bliss” idea that I also associate with Joseph Campbell?

  2. This point is so valuable to illustrate and discuss. Even those of us who have our sacred space and know its value will often need to remind ourselves to use it. We are experts at jumping from one thing to the next until we are out of energy or grumpy. It’s harder to retrieve our balance and beauty at that point, and we contribute our noise/energy pollution to the environment like other machines. Remaining conscious, aware, grounded, and fluid keeps us emitting the right vibes!

  3. My point[s] precisely! The WordToons plan based on doodling {not art} is to get people to seek out and use that space without phones, computers, or interference. You said it very well. And I emphasize that when I teach this. And I am teaching a class at Olli this December,
